No Any Official Proposal by Azerbaijan on Returning the Missing Civil Person to Armenia

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS: Azerbaijan stated that a missing Armenian civil person is in Azerbaijan. The country did not provide any information about the person. Armen Kaprielyan, head of the working group affiliated to the RA Committee on Captives, War Prisoners and Missing Persons, told Armenpress that Azerbaijan did not provide any information about the person, but it is not excluded that the person is an inhabitant of Tavush Province and ‘was lost May 9, 2009 from a forest zone, near the Azerbaijani border’.

According to the Azerbaijani mass media, the Azerbaijani party expressed readiness to return the civil person to Armenia; however no any official proposal was made about the issue.

The representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross have already met with the missing civil person. After the agreement, the Presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia reached October 27 in Astrakhan, some change by the Azerbaijani party has been noticed.

‘Armenia has always showed humanistic attitude and returned the Azerbaijani war prisoners and missing civil persons. We hope that after the recent agreement of the Presidents, Azerbaijan will display goodwill and return the war prisoners and civil persons,’ Armen Kaprielyan said.

Except for the above-mentioned civil person, 6 Armenian war prisoners and a 5-member family, which crossed the border and moved to the Azerbaijani side, are currently in Azerbaijan.
