YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS: Political analyst, vice dean of YSU Oriental Studies Faculty Ruben Melkonyan described the step of the head of Turkish “Powerful Turkey” party as regular Turkish imitative deed. “They are making an imitation of political multi-opinion state: as if they have a democratic country and they are for public diplomacy,” Mr Melkonyan said.

According to him, they were trying to confuse Armenia – first by calling this step as public diplomacy and contradicting themselves. “Those who wish to come forth with public diplomacy appearing in Armenia would not get prepared for a meeting with the foreign minister which is a political initiative. Turkey is trying to confuse bringing forward one of its archive parties,” Melkonyan said.

He noted “Powerful Turkey” party does not have political back and rating and is being used by the Turkish government as a tool. “I think Turks have worked out 2 plans – maximum and minimum. With the maximum they were expecting meeting with the Armenian foreign minister, and with the minimum – press conference. The initiative succeeded with minimum plan,” Ruben Melkonyan said.

He also spoke about the processes of revealing the murder of Hrant Dink, chief editor of “Agos” newspaper, expressing an opinion that revealing of the crime has entered a deadline as first of all Turkish state forces are not interested in the case.
