Armenian archeologists found well-preserved bodies and cloths dating back to 4th millennium BC

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 26, ARMENPRESS: The other day in Areni the archeologists have found well-preserved bodies of a child and a woman, remains of a goat and cloths, which date back to the beginning of the 4th millennium BC. Director of the NAC Archeology and Ethnography Institute Pavel Avetisyan said today at a meting with journalist that it is already the fourth year they work in Areni historical site, but they had not yet found items of such a big significance,” Mr. Avetisyan said.

According to him, the found items give a fine opportunity to get acquainted with the funerals conducted millenniums ago. “This is a key that opens the doors of history secrets not only for Armenians, but possibly for the whole world, Mr. Avetisyan stressed.

The specialists noted that the fabric of the found clothes is from cane, and the bodies are well-preserved due to favorable cave micro-climate, and the local residents, knowing this, conducted funerals just there.

“Nevertheless, the value of the found items will be proved in experimental laboratories, which is connected with big expenses of nearly 60 000 Euros,” said Boris Gasparyan, scientific employee of the same institute, head of the expedition.

Some samples have already been sent to the laboratories of London, California, etc. for experiemnattion.
