YEREVAN, OCTOBER 20, ARMENPRESS: The anti-Armenian and racist ideology in Azerbaijan is raised on a state policy level, Hayk Demoyan, director of the Armenian-Genocide Museum-Institute, said at a news conference in “Armenpress”, adding that Azerbaijan spends huge financial means for it.
“I called this phenomena historic piracy,” Demoyan noted, saying that the Azerbaijani historic piracy is being committed by one pyramid which is the same with Aliyev family. On the top of the pyramid is Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev the incessant statements of who are directed to scare the Armenian audience. “No matter how these statements are intended to scare the Armenian audience, they scare the Azerbaijani audience as they always consist of war threats,” the historian pointed out.
According to Mr Demoyan, Heydar Aliyev Foundation is also actively engaged in anti-Armenian propaganda. It is headed by the first lady of Azerbaijan Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva who as a result of her activity was awarded Order of Honorable Legion of France, afterward became UNESCO Goodwill ambassador. “H. Aliyev Foundation is dealing not only with anti-Armenian propaganda but taking forward the Azerbaijani viewpoint in the whole world,” Demoyan added. He also noted that Ilham Aliyev’s daughter, Leyla Aliyeva, is also engaged in the propaganda which she implements in the student’s environment of Moscow.
“For taking forward its propaganda Azerbaijan also tries “to create facts” and find “scholars” who will develop those facts,” Mr Demoyan said, pointing out that Azerbaijan actively uses the newest technologies and internet resources.
He positively assessed the speech of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in Goris at the meeting with Diaspora Armenian journalists and editors, pointing out that its content differed from the speeches of other officials of Armenia. “In this speech the things were called by their proper names,” the historian said, pointing out that for combating the Azerbaijani propaganda Armenia’s chief resource – Diaspora – must be used. “We need to open publishing houses in Moscow, Washington, Paris and Berlin which will print high-quality books and present Armenian viewpoints,” Hayk Demoyan said, adding that these issues may find very simple solutions.
