Arthur Poghosyan: Level of Armenian-Egyptian cultural cooperation is in harmony with political one

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS: The level of the Armenian-Egyptian cultural cooperation is in harmony with the political one, Armenian Deputy Minister of Culture Arthur Poghosyan told today journalists, referring to the Armenian Cultural Days conducted September 16-21 in Egypt.
The solemn opening ceremony of Days of Armenian Culture took place September 19 at Cairo Opera House Grand Hall with participation of Tatul Altunyan Song and Dance Ensemble (Art Director Zhirayr Altunyan). Over 1500 spectators, including members if the Egyptian government, ambassadors of dozen of countries, renowned Egyptian artists and art loving society, representative of the Egyptian-Armenian community, journalists accepted the multi-genre performances of the ensemble with high enthusiasm and warm and loud applauses.
The exhibition of the photos of Director of Parajanov House-Museum Zaven Sargsyan dedicated to Armenian architecture was held within the frameworks of the cultural days in one of the halls of “El Gomhoria” complex, which was also warmly welcomed by Egyptians.
Mr. Poghosyan said that the closing ceremony of the Cultural days was held September 21 in Alexandria Opera House. Armenian official delegation partook in a number of events organized by the Armenian community on the occasion of Days of Armenian Culture.
Within the visit to Cairo Armenian Deputy Minister Arthur Poghosyan discussed a number of cooperation programs; in 2010 March-April Cultural days of Egypt will be conducted in Armenia. “The board of the Cairo’s Opera House is quite interested in “Gayane” ballet, and the latter is intended to stage there,” the minister said, adding that joint programs will be implemented in the sphere of book publishing as well, and book expo-fairs will be held. An agreement is intended to sign between the Alexandria’s Central and Armenia’s National Libraries, as well as to proclaim Yerevan and Cairo sister towns.
The Armenian delegation had a meeting with Minister of International Cooperation of Egypt, Co-chairman of the Armenian-Egyptian Intergovernmental Commission Fayza Abul Naga, during which it was re-confirmed that an Armenian-Egyptian inter-governmental session will be held in December in Armenia.
