‘Ordinary Genocide: Maragha, April 10, 1992’ Documentary Presented

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS: The Center of Information and Public Relations of the Staff of President of Armenia presented today the ‘Ordinary Genocide: Maragha, 10 April, 1992’ documentary. The film is about the massacre, which has remained unknown to the world, about the tragedy of dozens of inhabitants, living in village of Maragha, Nagorno Karabakh, who were brutally murdered, taken hostage, tortured. Some of the inhabitants are recorded as missing so far.

The events of Maragha were described as "modern Golgotha, but for many times worse' by Baroness Caroline Cox. The film is presented by witnesses, evidences of which are proved by the scenes of the documentary chronicles.

‘People were killed because of belonging to a certain nation: this is another display of genocide by Azerbaijan. Genocides of Baku, Sumgait and Khojali are among them,’ Director of the Center Ara Saghatelyan said. He added that they are making such a film about the events of Khojali.

‘These events were not paid proper attention to by the international community; that is why we decided to give an opportunity to the inhabitants of Maragha to speak and present what they experienced,’ said Marina Grigoryan, manager of the "Ordinary genocide” project. She added that the massacres of Maragha were specifically brutal. ‘This is another fact, which proves that Artsakh could not have any connection with Azerbaijan,’ she said.

‘Azerbaijan’s fairytale, according to which the Azerbaijanis did not hurt children, does not have any connection with the reality,’ said Larisa Alaverdyan, adviser to the project, RA NA deputy.

Karine Poghosyan, survivor of the events, says the Azerbaijanis ‘acted like a wolf pack, which tortured even the dead and did not spare the lives of children and the old’.
