YEREVAN, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS: The namaz planned by Turks in the Cathedral of Ani can be considered a sign of “advance” of that country, specialist for monuments Samvel Karapetyan said today at a meeting with journalists, noting that Armenian churches have been defiled by Turks for many years, and “it is an occasion for happiness, that here namaz is only prayed”.
“We should congratulate the Turks that they have realized that one must pray in the temple of God and not to conduct operations. This way Turks have a goal to encroach the feelings of Armenians, to offend them,” Mr. Karapetyan said.
He said he is of the opinion that Turkey, nevertheless, will go on with its policy on Armenian historical-architectural monuments, after some period of time “even the trace of them will not be left” in Turkey.
