YEREVAN, AUGUST 3, ARMENPRESS: Azerbaijani President Ilham Alyev’s war rhetoric and threats are merely “a bluff”, Turkish expert, lecturer of Bosfor University Behlul Ozkan stated by an Armenian TV Channel. He is sure that actually Ilham Aliyev does not want to settle the Karabakh issue, especially by means of war.
“I think Aliyev does not want the Karabakh issue to be settled, as today’s situation and status-quo are very profitable for Aliyev. He makes profit on oil of billions of dollars, and those oil-pipelines have been constructed, as he has provided guarantees to very big oil companies, that there will be no war. Today everybody knows that the oil pipeline passes at a distance of 30-40 km from Armenia, and in case of war Armenia can bombard it. There is no risk of starting war by Aliyev, he just plays with its society,” the Turkish expert said. Behlul Ozkan is sure that this is merely a “bluff”, moreover, he blamed Azerbaijan for being a non-democratic state.
“The best method of ruling people in a non-democratic state is annual promises on returning of the missed lands,” he noted. As for the Armenian-Turkish border and Armenian-Turkish relations, Mr. Ozkan put the blame on the Azerbaijani. There is a very strong Azerbaijani lobby in Turkey, as there are very big oil and chemical companies; they exert enormous pressure on the government. In the context of such hysteria of Azerbaijan Turkey cannot open its borders,” he said.
