YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS: The moral and material damage caused to the Azerbaijani-Armenian expatriated community is estimated 100 billion USD, Chairman of the Assembly of Azerbaijani-Armenians Gregory Ayvazyan told today Armenpress, calling the Azerbaijani-Armenians to apply to UN Armenia office with the issue of returning to their settlements conquered by that country.
“If Azerbaijan refuses the legal issue of the Azerbaijani-Armenians, then it will prove the international community that it has no place in the lines of the civil society and must be isolated from it,” Mr. Ayvazyan said. The chairman of the assembly noted that they have also applied to Minsk group co-chairing countries with the mediation of the French, Russian and U.S. Embassies in Armenia and informed about their intentions. According to him, the process is running normally. “The Azerbaijani-Armenian expatriated community wishes to return to the former settlements. This process has a goal to neutralize the false Azerbaijani propaganda machine,” Mr. Ayvazyan said. “Armenians have had an outstanding contribution to development of Azerbaijan,” the chairman of the assembly noted. According to him, the Azerbaijani insist that after departing from Karabakh their community has grown to 400 thousand from 30 thousand.
“They must know that 1, 5 million Armenians have been deported from Azerbaijan and now they are 1 million with their children,” Gregory Ayvazyan said, stressing that Azerbaijan must admit the refugees and ensure their security. Referring to the 19th anniversary of the NKR independence Mr. Ayvazyan noted that the independence of Artsakh is the most important event of the Armenian modern history.
