Yervand Bozoyan says the post and psychological advantages of the Armenian party over the enemy are apparent

YEREVAN, AUGUST 31, ARMENPRESS: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Armenia had a highest diplomatic status, Director of the Armenia branch of the institute of CIS countries, political specialist Alexander Maragrov told today a press conference, adding that the visit contained several ingredients – political, strategic, economic and humanitarian. It was directed toward maintaining the relations at a high level. Mr. Margarov underscored that the trends of strengthening the positions of Russia in the South Caucasus are becoming apparent.

Political specialist Yervand Bozoyan noted that as result of improvement of Russian-American relations, Russia started strengthening its positions in the post-soviet territory. According to him, the Armenian army is stronger than the Azerbaijani one, and it has been testified by a war, the post and psychological advantages of the Armenian party over the enemy are apparent, so there is no need of thinking that it is Russia that must defend us against Azerbaijan, it just provides balance in the region toward Turkey.

The speakers referred to the Azerbaijani draft resolution to be discussed September 9 in the United Nations. “The format of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict regulation is the Minsk group, so removal of the issue into any other format is a hindering circumstance for settlement of the issue,” Mr. Margarov stressed, underscoring that the adoption of the resolution, nevertheless, can not have constructive reflection on the negotiation process.

“Over 200 resolutions had been adopted toward Israel in the UN in time, but we see Israel boosting today,” Mr. Bozoyan said, adding that the main mediators in the Karabakh issue assume a constructive position in such cases and do not support adoption of suchlike resolutions.
