Demand for Literary Pieces Sent to Educational Centers of Diaspora Increases Significantly

YEREVAN, AUGUST 10, ARMENPRESS: Since 2002 RA Education and Science Ministry has been providing text-books for the educational centers of the Diaspora. This year over 35 thousand 648 books and educational materials have been sent to the educational centers of the Diaspora.

Tamara Zalinyan, chief specialist of the RA Education and Science Ministry’s Department of the Diaspora Relations, told Armenpress that 7 thousand books and educational materials were sent to Georgia and 3500 books – to Abkhazia. Armenia sent over 74 thousand materials to the Diaspora. 32 thousand of the materials were sent to Georgia.

‘In the beginning the main part of the text-books were sent to Georgia, but then we made clear the educational centers of the Diaspora have a demand for text-books, too,’ Tamara Zalinyan said. She mentioned the schools of Europe and the US have a great demand, so some part of the books is provided on the base of applications.

Tamara Zalinyan added that the demand declined in Georgia and that only the books of Armenian language and literature are sent there. She mentioned that the Georgians translate their books into Armenian. In general, the demand for the books from Armenia increased in a number of states of the world.

Placard-alphabets, methodological guides, books on Armenian culture, history and Armenology, maps of the Republics of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, DVD’s about the homeland, materials on the victory of Armenia, CD’s about the history of the Armenian music, as well as literary pieces are mainly sent to the educational centers of the Diaspora. Tamara Zalinyan says a slew of books are created for the Diaspora, the rest of books are being adapted.

‘In the course of time we extend the relations, have new partners, who apply for getting educational materials,’ the chief specialist said. She added that 170 educational materials, acquired by the state funds, are sent to the Diaspora. Tamara Zalinyan assured that the project will be continuous.
