Vladimir Aghayan: Past ten years were the years of our consolidation

YEREVAN, AUGUST 10, ARMENPRESS: The Russian Union of Armenians NGO is marking in 2010 the 10th anniversary of its establishment. Armenpress news agency spoke with the vice president of the organization Vladimir Aghayan about the activity of the Union.

- Mr Aghayan, how is the Union going to mark its 10th anniversary?

- We are going to mark the holiday in October in Armenia and Artsakh and November 18 at the congress hall of Moscow’s Kremlin at its wide extend.

- How will you assess the work of the Union during the previous years?

- The Russian Union of Armenians is organization of new times with its constructive programs and concrete actions. We may clearly say that a huge work has been carried out both in Russia and Armenia as well as in Artsakh. During its activity the Union has given separate room for the social-economic development of Armenia, consolidation of Armenian state. For all this it is necessary to create a firm economic ground, dynamically developing economy, involving the huge potential of diaspora. Summing up, we may clearly state that the past ten years were the years of our consolidation. In future we are planning to carry out more coordinated and fruitful activity.

- What are the concrete steps carried out by the organization for social-economic development of Armenia and consolidation of the Armenian state?

- With the assistance of the All-Russian Association of Economic Ties, Armenian International Economic conference was conducted in Yerevan with the participation of more than 400 representatives of big, medium and small-sized business of about 20 countries. We may also note the organization of the Russian-Armenian economic conference in Yerevan. During these ten years “Science Development” Foundation has been created the co-chairs of which are the president of the World Armenian Congress Ara Abrahamyan and chairman of the National Academy of Sciences Radik Martirosyan. The goal of this foundation is to promote the intellectual life in Armenia. We have also conducted a prize giving ceremony for the mass media that had covered our activity best.

- Currently you are also conducting festival of Russian song. What will you tell about it?

- The main goal of this event is the consolidation of Russian culture in Armenia. Through song we are trying to raise love among the Armenian children toward the Russian culture. Besides, the international contest of duduk players named after Jivan Gasparyan has launched dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Russian Union of Armenians. In October we are also planning to organize “Days of Russia” in Armenia and Artsakh as well as “Days of Armenia” in Russia.
