YEREVAN, AUGUST 3, ARMENPRESS. The Kosovo issue is not only theoretically very much alike Karabakh conflict but is legally the same, director of the Caucasian Media Institute Alexander Iskandaryan said today at a news conference.

“Recognition of independence is a very complicated and long-lasting process. For the recognition of independence it is necessary to be backed by great states,” the political analyst said, adding that if the international court recognized the self-determination of Kosovo it does not yet mean that the decisions about other issues will have the same outcome.

Alexander Iskandaryan said the ruling of the International Court of Justice does not demand the independence of Kosovo, there is noting like that. “The court has just registered the fact, rating high the self-determination principle from the territorial integrity principle. According to the court’s ruling, the international right does not ban declaring independence,” Al. Iskandaryan said. The analyst says Azerbaijan is pretty scared in this respect.
