Aram Safaryan Says OSCE PA 19th Annual Session Transforms into Armenian-Azerbaijani Conflict

YEREVAN, JULY 14, ARMENPRESS: During the 19th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Armenian delegation initiated the resolution on ‘Responsibility of OSCE member-states in the common energy supply sector’. Aram Safaryan, head of the Armenian delegation, said at a press conference today that none of the suggestions of the Azerbaijani delegation was adopted and it caused the complaints of the Azerbaijani side.

According to Aram Safaryan, the resolution implies that the OSCE states must not use their energy resources as a means of putting pressure and achieving political goals.

Artak Davtyan, member of the Armenian delegation to the OSCE PA 19th session, says this is the most important emphasis, ‘which plays a great role, as it states that no any OSCE state should use its energy resources as a means of achieving political goals’. Artak Davtyan says the Azerbaijani delegation tried to fail the resolution, but did not manage to do that.

During the 19th session of the OSCE PA, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict was touched upon as well. Aram Safaryan says the Azerbaijani delegation tried to spread falsifications, started apply diversions. During the session the Azerbaijani mass media spread information, according to which President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Joao Soares made some anti-Armenian statements. The Armenian delegation asked Joao Soares to comment on the news, spread by the Azerbaijani propaganda machine.

Aram Safaryan says the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly disproved the news, spread by the Azerbaijani BBC, and stated that the NK conflict should be regulated on the base of the right of nations to define their fortune. According to Aram Safaryan, Joao Soares said that during the interview, he even did not blame either Azerbaijan or Armenia for the fact peace is not established in the Nagorno Karabakh yet.
