YEREVAN, JULY 13, ARMENPRESS: French-Armenian film director Serzh Avetikyan’s ‘Story of the Dog’ film will partake in the Reanimania Animation Film Festival, which will be held September 9-13. Serzh Avetikyan said at today’s meeting with journalists that the cooperation with some Turkish organizations will be possible, in case they have a desire to cooperate.
‘We should work together and overcome the fear jointly. Today it is too difficult to speak about the normal relations between the two states, but I think that the art and cinema will play a great role in the formation of civil society,’ Serzh Avetikyan said. He added that the political figures do what they want to do, so do the artists. He said that the film has already been screened in several Turkish universities. Serzh Avetikyan says the ‘Story of the Dog’ will be screened in Turkey in the near future. The director has been invited to partake in ‘Antalia’ Film Festival as a member of national jury. ‘I ask them why I am involved in the ‘national jury’, and they answer that I am not a foreigner for Turkey,’ Serzh Avetikyan said. The director told that all the scenes of one of his films were shot in the streets of Istanbul. ‘I just wanted my second film to be the continuation of the first one. I present the Turkish reality during the period of 100 years. If you are attentive, you will probably notice that Turkey remained the same.
Europe asks Turkey to undertake steps in the direction of democracy, and Turkey wants to join Europe without being democratized,’ he said. Some critics say that Serzh Avetikyan’s ‘Story of the Dog’ film is an attempt to represent the future of the religious minorities of Turkey in the beginning of the 20th century.
