Toys, Imported to Armenia, Licensed Voluntarily

YEREVAN, JULY 13, ARMENPRESS: According to RA Government’s decision, the toys, imported to Armenia, will be licensed only in the sell stage. The results of the checks of RA State Inspectorate of Quality are not ready yet. Deputy Director of the Inspectorate Gevorg Gyozalyan says they have not received any complaints or revealed any violation.

Gevorg Gyozalyan added that it is nearly impossible to conduct checking and control all the imported toys simultaneously during a year.

‘We have the right of conduct checking only in those trade places, which have 70 million-AMD-circulation. In the other cases we conduct checking on the assignment of RA Prime Minister if only there are some doubts or application-complaints. Up to now, we did not have to undertake such measures,’ Gevorg Gyozalyan said.

17 organizations are currently securing safety licenses in Armenia. The importing company is to decide whether apply to any of those 17 organizations or not. The consumer is to decide whether demand the certificate of the toy or not.

Toys are mainly imported to Armenia from China. Mr. Gyozalyan says they are quite attentive of the goods, imported from China.

The specialists of the National Institute of Standards organize workshops for importers on the rise of social responsibility. However, Deputy of Director of the Institute Artak Shahbazyan says, only 4-5 organizations applied for certification last year. He added that no any company has applied this year.

According to Gevorg Gyozalyan, low-quality toys can be recognized easily. The consumer just has to drench the paint and scratch it. The paint of uncertain compound may penetrate into the mouth of a child, Gevorg Gyozalyan said.
