Robert Bradtke Says NK Talks in the Most Important Stage

YEREVAN, JULY 8, ARMENPRESS: The negotiations over the regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue are in the most important stage now, said US Co-Chair of OSCE Minsk Group Robert Bradtke in an interview to BBC, Armenpress reports.

Robert Bradtke mentioned that US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit to Armenia and Azerbaijan played an important role in the process of regulation. The visit, he said, proved that the US is decisive in supporting the two sides to regulate the conflict.

According to the Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, in the current stage of the talks the sides should think of the future and not the short-time obstacles.

‘In this issue, the role of the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group states should increase. Some progress has been registered. The two sides agree to regulate the conflict on the base of Helsinki Principles,’ Robert Bradtke said.

According him, the Co-Chairs do their best to prevent the escalation of the NK conflict. He said he is sure the two Presidents want peace and realize that starting a new war will bring to a disaster. ‘The result does not matter; war will bring to hatred, which will continue for decades,’ Robert Bradtke noted.
