Zhenya Ghadr: Draft presented in PACE is clear Azerbaijani labeling

YEREVAN, JUNE 30, ARMENPRESS: The Azerbaijani propaganda machine uses different international instances and platforms for spreading obvious lies and labeling Armenia. In the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe the Azerbaijani delegates apply to the working style peculiar to them – spreading disinformation by putting into circulation some documents. Particularly, “Armenia’s Determination to become mono-ethnic state and implementing policy against ethnic minorities” draft resolution was presented according to which, ethnic minorities living in Armenia are persecuted. Representatives of ethnic minorities living in Armenia were frustrated with that fact.

“Kurds in Armenia are living free like each citizen of this country. Kurdish people do not have any issues with the Armenian people,” chairperson of the “Kurdistan” committee Zhenya Ghadr told Armenpress. “Armenia is our homeland, our children even were killed in the Artsakh liberation war. There cannot be a word about the pressures on ethnic minorities in Armenia”. Zhenya Ghadr said that this draft is clear Azerbaijani labeling.

“Armenia cannot be compared with Azerbaijan where our people were directly merged and today there is no Kurdish community there,” Zhenya Ghadr said, adding that the case of murder of the four Kurds so many times speculated by Azerbaijanis is a result of inter-personal clash.

The same opinion was expressed by a representative of another ethnic minority in Armenia, chairperson of “Arthur” Union of Assyrians Arsen Mikhaylov. According to him, the Azerbaijani propaganda machine is spreading only false information. “Of course ethnic minorities face some issues but they mainly refer to the educational-cultural sphere which is gradually being solved as the Armenian government pays serious attention to the issues of ethnic minorities and particularly to the community of Assyrians,” Mikhailov said, pointing out that thanks to the Armenian government a number of Assyrian books have been published and office has been given to the union for free.

The opinions of Kurds and Assyrians were shared by the chairman of the Yezidis Union Aziz Tamoyan, who said that they fought in Artsakh war and had more than 30 victims.
