YEREVAN, JUNE 25, ARMENPRESS: The establishment of foreign language schools cannot threaten the security of Armenia, Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia Arthur Baghdasaryan said at today’s press conference.

“The existence of 2 foreign language private schools beside 1500 secondary schools in Armenia does not threaten the national security of our country. The speculations that the education of the foreign language will be at the price of the native language are naïve. The native language occupies its own place. Today we cannot find a German, who speaks only German; he/she splendidly masters English and French as well. We find that this approach must be applied in Armenia as well,” A. Baghdasaryan said.

According to the Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council, there were merely artificial political speculations on these bills, “some political forces stated at first that they are against, and then voted for or the opposite.

“I find that the existence of these schools do not threaten the national security of Armenia. We have adopted a reasonable decision, especially that the education in those schools in foreign language will take place after the seventh grade,” A. Baghdasaryan underscored.
