YEREVAN, JUNE 18, ARMENPRESS: The negotiation process over the Nagorno Karabakh issue is quite complicated and long-lasting, and we must not wait for timely solutions, political specialist Sergey Minasyan said at today’s meeting with journalists referring to yesterday’s meeting of the Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents.
According to him, many political specialists did not have special expectations from that meeting realizing that the Karabakh issue cannot find a timely solution. S. Minasyan attached importance to the format of the meeting of the presidents noting that it says that Turkey cannot play role in the regulation issue of Karabakh. In the recent period Azerbaijan has been making active statements, according to which it will not continue the negotiation process until Armenia gives its final answer related to the updated Madrid Principles.
Despite that, according to S. Minasyan, yesterday’s meeting showed that the parties are ready to continue the negotiations. The political specialist noted that in the Karabakh issue the Azerbaijani party tries to show that there is certain activeness, and soon changes will take place. The Armenian party, as he said, displays a realistic approach in regard to that issue and does not hurry. S. Minasyan reminded that in the last 5 years no concrete step has been made besides the Minedorf Agreement.
