Belarusian Businessmen Seriously Interested in the Armenian Market

YEREVAN, JUNE 2, ARMENPRESS: Belarusian businessmen are seriously interested in the Armenian market. Executive Director of the Yerevan Chamber of Trade and Industry Karen Martirosyan told Armenpress that the meeting of the Armenian delegation and Belarusian businessmen in Minsk has had tangible results. The goal of the organization of the meeting was the strengthening of the economic ties between the two countries and finding new ways of cooperation.

The Armenian delegation was headed by Martin Sargsyan, chairman of the Armenian Chamber of Trade and Industry, member of the National Assembly. Companies producing agricultural engineering, batteries, electric equipments, etc were involved in the delegation. At the meeting with over 50 Belarusian businessmen, such companies also participated, which had already established certain ties with the local businessmen. “The Belarusian businessmen were quite interested in those Armenian companies, which import products from Belarusia to Armenia.

The companies of “Belar” and “Koala” which import Belarusian products to Armenia had quite a full graphic during the three days of the visit, and met with a lot of companies,” K. Martirosyan said. Belarusian companies have started production of new products by new technologies, which they wish to import to Armenia. An agreement has been gained between Vanadzor’s “Chinvan” and a company of Mahilyow province. The Belarusian party wants by bringing the necessary equipments of the tractor to construct the complete car here.

“Chivan” company is already experienced in that and efficiently works with the Chinese party. There is also an agreement on exporting batteries from Armenia to Belarusia. During the three day visit a cooperation agreement was signed between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Belarusian Mahilyow and Armenian Lori provinces, and the agreement between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Yerevan and Minsk was resigned. “We signed a cooperation agreement with Minsk 8 years ago.

In the recent years new directions of cooperation have emerged and we want to include them in the agreement,” K. Martirosyan said. The Armenian delegation was received by the deputies of the Minsk Mayor and of the Minister of Industry as well. Cognac, processed fruits, water and jewelry are mainly exported from Armenia to Belarusia. And from Belarusia dairy produce, fish, drugs, furniture, etc are imported to Armenia.

K. Martirosyan noted that these are the products which are traditionally exported or imported. According to him, the meeting of the businessmen will promote that the product list is expanded. Suchlike meetings between Armenian and Belarusian businessmen are organized from 2002.
