Thirty Programs Implemented by Armenian Social Investment Fund

YEREVAN, JUNE 1, ARMENPRESS: Thirty programs are being implemented in the republic by the Armenian Social Investment Fund. Executive Director of the fund Ashot Kirakosyan told Armenpress that the programs are in a preliminary stage. A choice has been made by the applications received from the communities beforehand; works will be carried out in almost all the provinces.

Four programs are intended in Tavush province. Berd School N 2 will have a gym hall and a heating system. The educational building of Dilijan School N 6, the hall building of the school of Aygehovit will be repaired, as well as a heating system will be inserted in Koghb school. In Kotayk province the Culture House of Khasakh and “Hrashq” kindergarten of Charentsavan will be repaired.

In Lori province 7 programs are intended. The building of Alaverdi Kindergarten N 14 and the roof of the School N 4 will be repaired. The latter and Geghasar school of the same province will have a reconstructed heating system as well. Repair works of culture houses will be conducted in the provinces of Lori, Shirak, Syuniq and Aragatsotn. Sevan policlinic of Gegharkunik province and the 3rd floor of the policlinic of St Grigor the Illuminator Medical Center will be repaired.

A. Kirakosyan noted that about the 60 % of the applications submitted previously regarded the school reconstruction. Currently more proposals are presented on reconstruction of community centers and culture houses.

“First of all we try to display support to more vulnerable communities and boundary villages. According to the order, communities must co-finance the implemented programs in the amount of 10 %. In the conditions of the economic crisis till 5% has been set, but even in this case the vulnerable communities are not able to pay,” A. Kirakosyan said. According to him, an attempt is made to support communities by means of international donor organizations and Diaspora-Armenians. The Social Investment Fund is implementing a program on providing property as well, in such a way supporting the community schools.

In near future 7 million USD will be provided by the World Bank, thanks to which other 30 programs will be implemented.
