Azerbaijani Media Distorts Words of Representative of the Iranian FM Connected with the NKR Parliamentary Elections

YEREVAN, MAY 27, ARMENPRESS: Azerbaijani “APA” news agency spread disinformation distorting the words of the representative of the Foreign Ministry of Iran about the elections in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.

On May 26 in the official web-site of the Iranian Foreign Ministry a material was placed about the NKR parliamentary elections, according to which, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Minister Ramin Mehmanparast, in response to the question about the conduction of parliamentary elections in the NKR said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran does not officially recognize the conduction of the parliamentary elections in Nagorno Karabakh.” Mehmanparast, at the same time, rejecting the news about the participation of Iranian observers in the mentioned elections noted: “No one from Iran participated in the Karabakh parliamentary elections as observer”.

It is remarkable that official “IRNA” as well as “FarsNews” and “MehrNews” partially official news agencies presented the information similarly, without additions. While, according to “Iran News” Russian web site, the Azerbaijani “APA” news agency, spreading false information, as if citing “IRNA” distorted the words of the representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry and wilfully presented a few Azerbaijani-oriented propagating expressions on behalf of the Iranian authorities.

“With this working style the Azerbaijani side may also state on behalf of the Iranian authorities that Iran is gradually starting recognizing the territorial integrity and independence of northern and southern Azerbaijans. Thus, the Iranian side, though, must not make indifferent appearance in dissemination of such disinformation,” spokesman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan said.
