YEREVAN, MAY 24, ARMENPRESS: Before adopting senseless resolution on Armenia the European Parliament must first of all condemn the incessant military statements voiced by the Azerbaijani side and call on that country to withdraw its troops from the occupied Armenian territories – Getashen, Shahumyan, Artsvashen, said chairman of the NA’s Defense, National Security and Interior Affairs Standing Committee Hrayr Karapetyan today at a press conference, commenting on the resolution adopted by the European Parliament.
According to him, the resolution was adopted one-sidedly thanks to the work of the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem. “Armenian authorities at the negotiations must raise the issue of the Armenian territories occupied by Azerbaijan. We must not always be in defending position,” Hrayr Karapetyan said.
In his opinion the resolution adopted by the European Parliament is not a tragedy at all, it is just a propaganda document from which conclusions must be made.
Speaking about the Karabakh conflict Hrayr Karapetyan noted that Armenia must work not to allow the goal of PACE chairman Mevlut Cavusoglu – moving the NK issue from the OSCE Minsk Group format to the commission created within PACE –become a reality. The Armenian parliamentarian said Armenia must demand resignation of Cavusoglu after he ignored the procedure by not visiting Tsitsernakaberd.
