YEREVAN, APRIL 20, ARMENPRESS: “Orinats Yerkir” party considers the expectations from the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Washington justified. Deputy head of the party Mher Shahgeldyan said today at a press conference that one of the important issues of the Washington visit was the participation of Armenia in the international global processes which is the result of Armenia’s active and initiative foreign policy.
“The Washington visit created new change in the Armenia-Turkey negotiations, in which Armenia once again presented its own approaches that is to reach establishment of the Armenian-Turkish relations without preconditions. In this respect Armenia is firm,” M. Shahgeldyan said. According to him, the failure of the Armenian-Turkish process will not be positively perceived by the USA which will have negative impact on the Turkish-American relations.
M. Shahgeldyan does not think that the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations has currently entered a deadlock, just the opposite it goes to development: “the two parties are currently going in the way of ratification of protocols which must pass several diplomatic rounds.”
M. Shahgeldyan also highlighted the Washington visit in the pre-context of development of Armenian-American relations.
