YEREVAN, APRIL 16, ARMENPRESS: “Prosperous Armenia” party highly praises and attaches great importance to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech delivered April 28 near the tomb of 28th US President Woodrow Wilson, Secretary of RA NA “Prosperous Armenia” faction Aram Safaryan stated today at a meeting with journalists noting that the president’s speech is an important step in not allowing the split of Armenia and Diaspora, as well as in uniting all the Armenians.
According to him, in case Armenia continues moving forward in this direction, essential successes will be registered in the issue of bringing all the Armenians together.
A. Safaryan highly praised that S. Sargsyan has presented to the authorities of the USA and Turkey the landmark, below from which he will never step down for the sake of the progress of the Armenian-Turkish progress; he will never stand back from the resoluteness of pushing forward the process of the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and will never go to one-sided concessions in the process of Nagorno Karabakh conflict regulation for the sake of this dialogue. These are important principal decisions, around which, according to A. Safaryan, exists a consensus in the inner-political life of Armenia.
According to A. Safaryan, what happened in Washington is the result of the pretentious policy of U.S. President Barack Obama, the goal of which is to move forward the issue of the Armenian-Turkish dialogue from the deadlock at any price.
“In this round the U.S. position should be considered a progress and success. I think, this is a positive phenomenon and I hope that it will be possible to push the process forward with this resoluteness of the USA,” A. Safaryan said.
According to him, it should be registered that the issue on regulation of Armenian-Turkish relations does not stem only from the profits of the two countries; it is a contribution to ensuring a stability and peace in the whole region.
A. Safaryan noted that we must welcome the statement of the Turkish authorities, according to which they intend to continue the dialogue with Armenia. “We are sure the Armenian-Turkish dialogue must be continued not only at political high level, but at all the possible levels. Non-governmental organizations, parties, etc. must be involved in the issue,” A. Safaryan said.
What happened in the recent period, according to the speaker, shows that the Armenian-Turkish dialogue as an independent political phenomena is so important and significant that the linkage of it with another process will just complicate the process even more not giving an opportunity of pushing forward at least one of them.
A. Safaryan also attached importance to discussions on the Armenian Genocide in Turkey. According to him, despite that, the official positions expressed by Turkish authorities do not differ from the policy it has assumed, nevertheless, there are separate individuals and public forces in that country which have started speaking of the necessity of looking at the “black page” of the history with frank eyes.
