YEREVAN, MARCH 25, ARMENPRESS: In the Armenian province of Ararat the social-economic situation is good. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said today at the outgoing session in the Armenian province of Ararat that it might be agreed with the circumstance that the 85% of the population ties his/her future with the province and is not going to leave it. The prime minister said that the predictions of future among the population are positive though they have a number of issues.
The unemployment rate in Ararat as compared with the other provinces is the lowest, but people are still concerned with the employment issue. In the sphere of agriculture the residents are complaining of re-sellers of the agricultural products. There is a complaint that the products are sold at a lower price and are re-sold at higher price. The population is more concerned with the issue of cheap agricultural products imported from Turkey and Iran. The poverty rate in the province is lower from the average index of the republic.
Among the community issues the residents of the province consider the irrigation, drinking water, garbage removal, pollution issues as the prior ones. “It is very important that the majority of the residents of the province tie the hope of solution of the issues with the works of the government. Only the 7.5% of the population tie the hope with the Governor’s office. The difference is big,” Tigran Sargsyan said.
He noted that the majority of the population wishes to work in the sphere of agriculture and then have own business. The population wishes to work in the sphere of education and agriculture as well. The people here complain also from the work of the Governor’s office and cadastre.
The prime minister noted that the population of the province is “thirsty” for cultural events. He said special attention must be paid to it.
After the session Tigran Sargsyan participated in the chess Olympiad in Artashat’s Tumanyan school.
