‘Three-headed spy party of war’ must be eradicated from Armenia, says Pashinyan

The priority task of Armenia’s authorities over the next five years has been, and will continue to be, fulfilling citizens’ demand that the criminal-oligarchic system be completely eradicated from the Republic of Armenia.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is also Chairman of the Board of the ruling Civil Contract Party, made the statement during a press conference.

Asked how he envisaged cooperation with political forces that, according to preliminary results of Armenia’s parliamentary elections, had also cleared the threshold to enter parliament despite being among the groups he criticised most strongly during the election campaign, Pashinyan said:

“My position and my plan have not changed. The leaders of those forces (editor’s note: referring to Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia Alliance, Robert Kocharyan, leader of the Armenia Alliance, and Gagik Tsarukyan, chairman of the Prosperous Armenia Party) must be held accountable in accordance with the law. They must face criminal liability in the cases known to you, and the dispossession of the criminal-oligarchic system must proceed very rapidly through the mechanism of confiscation of illicit assets, criminal proceedings, the system for protecting state interests and the system for protecting community interests.

Ultimately, these forces are not political forces; they are representatives of the criminal-oligarchic system, and they should have no field of activity in Armenia. The three-headed spy party of war must be eradicated from Armenia. That is our task in the political sphere,” Pashinyan said.

The Central Electoral Commission continues to publish preliminary results of Armenia’s parliamentary elections. According to the preliminary data, the Civil Contract Party has received enough votes to form a government on its own.

The preliminary results also indicate that the Strong Armenia Alliance, the Armenia Alliance, and the Prosperous Armenia Party have surpassed the electoral threshold required to enter parliament.
