Members of the NA factions condemn the statement of the Turkish PM

YEREVAN, MARCH 19, ARMENPRESS: With his statement Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan unveiled the bloody history of Turkey. The head of the NA Republican Party’s faction Galust Sahakyan said, commenting on the statement of the Turkish Prime Minister with which he threats to drive out Armenians living in Turkey illegally the number of which he says reaches 100 000.

According to him, we must ask Turkey why today in that country only 70 000 Armenians must live and not few millions, “in 1915 in that territory 3 million Armenians were living, isn’t it?” “The answer to this question will unequivocally be that in 1915 genocide was committed against Armenians,” G. Sahakyan said. He also pointed out that Armenian-Turkish relations cannot be established through pre-conditions and the issue of the Armenian Genocide will never be a matter of purchase and sale. “Turkey must come into terms with its bloody historic face,” he said.

Member of the ARF faction Hrayr Karapetyan said that the statement of the Turkish prime minister showed that the handwriting of the government of that country has not changed, though the authorities have changed. “The 1915 Genocide started with displacement and we must be aware of that threats. The way of acting of the Turkish authorities remains the same,” the parliamentarian said.

According to him, the international recognition of genocide is a must of our foreign policy, and the activities directed to that process must be strengthened more. “Turkey was and remains a threat for our country,” Hrayr Karapetyan.

Member of the same faction Vahan Hovhannissyan noted that Erdodan’s statement will open the eyes of the international community over the level of democracy in that country. “With its statement Erdogan took off his mask and the whole world saw with what country it deals,” he said, advising the Armenians living in that country to immediately leave that country and be cautious.

Secretary of the “Prosperous Armenia” faction Aram Safaryan said that he regrets that the prime minister of the 21st century Turkey started speaking in a language of Ottoman Empire.

“Such statements do not correspond to the mood of improvement of bilateral relations,” he said. According to A. Safaryan, the position of the Prosperous Armenia over the Armenian-Turkish relations: the party is for the launched bilateral processes without pre-conditions.

“Thus, the issue on the Armenian Genocide can never be put under doubt and the Nagorno Karabakh conflict cannot be tied with the Armenian-Turkish processes,” the parliamentarian said.

According to him, the opportunity to improve relations still exist and the Armenian-Turkish dialogue will continue.

Head of the “Orinats Yerkir” faction Heghine Bisharyan expressed her surprised over the statement of the Turkish prime minister as it does not correspond to the activity of the state striving to integrate into European system of values.
