B. Yengibaryan says Armenia’s IT sphere seriously develops

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 10, ARMENPRESS: A serious development is marked in the sphere of information technologies in Armenia. Growth of 18 % was registered last year in the sphere. Director of the Enterprises Incubator Foundation Bagrat Yengibaryan told Armenpress that the IT sphere is also a guide for the development of other spheres in Armenia.

It is one of the fewest spheres, where Armenia comes forward in the global area as a developed country. “The latest studies show that the IT plays a great role – influence of 30-70 %, beginning from mining industry to publishing and food industry. The IT is not only industry or sphere, but also a very important tool for the development of all the branches of economy,” B. Yengibaryan noted. According to him, this year more serious stress is to be put on this sphere. Assessing the achievement of the IT sphere, he said that a strategy of economic development is necessary to cultivate in Armenia, based on technological directions.

Among the issues of the IT sphere B. Yengibaryan singled out the absence of favorable conditions for newly-established organizations, as well as the development of a full business environment. According to him, the issue on preparing cadres is of great significance, too. He also said that it is necessary to pay a greater attention to that. Serious reforms and cooperation are necessary to start in the sphere of education in order high-quality cadres make way to the sphere,” B. Yengibaryan noted.

In his opinion, Armenia is keeping pace with the world in this sphere. “Armenia is one of the leading countries in the region with 200 enterprises of IT sphere and is compared with such countries as Russia and Ukraine. In regard to some IT sub-branches, Armenia has an exclusive role in the whole world. There are certain research centers in Armenia, which are of regional significance. It is not by chance that many programs are conducted here and not in neighbor countries,” B. Yengibaryan noted.
