Armen Smbatyan: “There’s no need to think that the murder of the Armenian citizen committed on January 11, is connected with his nationality”

MOSCOW, JANUARY 13, ARMENPRESS: Russian Law Enforcement Bodies are occupied with clearing up the identity of the Armenian citizen murdered in New Arbat, downtown Moscow. In the interview with Armenpress RA ambassador to Russia Armen Smbatyan commented on the new murder of an Armenian citizen, saying there is no need to think that the murder of the Armenian citizen committed on January 11, is connected with his nationality. A number of workers of various nationalities worked in the district where the murder was committed and a dispute occurred between them, law enforcement bodies are trying to clarify the details of the case. The murder was committed in the evening, January 11, not far from “Moskvichka” trade center in New Arbat street, 15. Construction works are currently carried out there. According to some Russian sources, outgoing workers live there and some dispute occurred between them. As a result an Armenian citizen was stabbed with a knife and soon died. Police officers managed to detain 5 workers suspected in taking part in committing the crime. The detainees are workers from CIS countries.
