Basic fund of UN Depository Library of NLA has 10 000 unit books

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 22, ARMENPRESS:UN Depository Library located at National Library of Armenia (NLA) has been complemented with a new literature, which was donated by UN Armenian office at the event dedicated to the 64th anniversary of UN. UN Public Information Department of Yerevan office told Armenpress that at today’s event organized in the National Library UN Permanent Coordinator Consuelo Vidal said that she is sure that the library’s readers will have a greater opportunity of getting additional knowledge “on UN in general and on our concrete achievements in Armenia”. “Our cooperation with UN Armenian office, especially with Public Information Department has always been very efficient. This day of UN is very significant for us, as the part of the basic fund of UN Informative Library is donated to our library. We are sure that it will appear to be an additional stimulus to raise the competence on UN. We highly assess this initiative and expect to continue the cooperation with UN Armenian office”, Director of the National Library Davit Sargsyan said. UN Depository Library located at Armenian National Library was established in 1997, similar library was established in Yerevan State University in 1995. Both UN libraries were established with the support of UN Department of Public Information Office in Yerevan. The basic fund of UN Depository Library of NLA has 10 000 unit books, magazines, posters and materials on UNO, especially in English, Russian and Armenian. UN Depository Libraries have been established in numerous countries, the goal of which is to provide information on UN activity, on the events taking place around the world and on UNO member countries.
