YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS:September 21 is celebrated by UN as an international Day of Peace. UN Secretary General Pan Ki-Moon has sent a message on this occasion noting that the International Day of Peace is a general appeal to declare a ceasefire and to stop violations. “It is high `time` to refer to the horrors and expenses of the war and to fulfill our obligation of giving a peaceful solution to conflicts. The majority of the conflict victims are innocent citizens, fathers, mothers and children”, the Secretary General noted. The conflicting sides, commanders, weapon suppliers and their sponsors, according to him, go on displaying an ignorable attitude toward life. “On this International Day of Peace I remind them all that there is another - a better way. It is the way of peace. We should be encouraged that the wars between the nations come across rarely. Diplomacy and negotiations have become more preferable. The history testifies that in case of enough need peace may dominate, even if the states have inner disputes”, Pan Ki-Moon noted. That is why I started my “We should be disarmed” propaganda. As long as similar weapons exist nobody can be secure. On this International Day of Peace I have a simple message addressed to everybody. We need peace. I call on all the people around the world to join the efforts exerted toward that direction”, UN Secretary General noted.
