GOVERNMENT RELEASES 1.4 BILLION DRAMS FOR IRRIGATION SYSTEMS RENOVATION

YEREVAN, APRIL 22, ARMENPRESS:The government has released 1.4 billion Drams to back up implementation of Irrigation Systems Renovation program. Mher Mkrtumian, an official of the territorial ministry, said to Armenpress part of the funds will be used to restore 30 water canals, 35 pumping stations, over a dozen flumes, four water reservoirs-Arpi Lake, Aparan, Azat and Sarnaghbyur. He said six administrative buildings will be also repaired ‘to make resolution of urgent issues more effective.’ He said when this job is over some 125,000 hectares of land will be irrigated by gravity flow and water losses will be down up to 7 percent, while the efficacy of pumping stations will rise and power will be economized.
