EXHIBITION OF WORKS OF TBILISI-BASED ARMENIAN ARTIST KICKS OFF IN ARMENIAN NATIONAL GALLERY

YEREVAN, MARCH 25, ARMENPRESS:Personal exhibition of Georgian-based artist Zuleyka Bazhbeuk-Melikian, a member of the Georgian Artists’ Union, kicked off today at the Armenian national gallery, organized within the framework of the Armenian-Georgian cultural agreement. The exhibition presents 77 works of the artist made during 1976-2006. “I am very happy that I can display my works in the National Gallery where the works of my father, brother and sister are being kept,” she said. The father of the artist, distinguished Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikian and sister Lavinia, are the best representatives of the Tbilisi Armenian school. “We are all connected with the love towards fine art. It is a big work which also demands a serious struggle, both inner and outer. In his/her canvases the artist must express herself/himself, in my canvases I am reflected with my approaches and outlook,” she pointed out. Georgian ambassador to Armenia Revaz Gachechiladze underscored the conduction of exhibition of Tbilisi-based Armenian artist in her homeland, noting that though she is an Armenian but is creating in Georgian environment and is part of Tbilisi culture. The exhibition will last until April 2.
