YEREVAN, DECEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS:Russia’s SovExportFilm company has donated copies of 22 films to Armenian National Archives, which were shot in Armenia in 1960-1980. Amatuni Virabian, head of the Armenian National Archives, said yesterday he is negotiating with some of Russian archives acquisition of a rare documentary, which was shot in 1911 by English cameramen in Western Armenia (now part of Turkey). He said the Russian archive has also a 186 minute-long documentary shot by Russian cameraman during the World War in the South Caucasian front. He said this documentary has an historical importance for Armenia, because it has images of deported and killed Armenians by Turks. He said the government of Armenia and Russian SovExportFilm signed an agreement whereby the Russian company will sell copies of some films to Armenia.
