BAKU, NOVEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS:“The government of the U.S. supports peaceful solution to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Resumption of hostilities would cause very heavy consequences for the two countries, “ Daniel Fried, Assistant Secretary of U.S. Department of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, said in a reference to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict during a meeting with US-graduated Azerbaijani alumni in Baku. He said that US continues cooperation with Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding peaceful solution to the conflict. “A settlement model designed for Kosovo conflict can not become precedent for the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh or any other conflict,” he said. “It is important that stability be established in the region. Settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will make Azerbaijan economically and politically stronger,” he said. In Azerbaijan he met with president Ilham Aliyev, representatives of several non-governmental organizations and leaders of opposition parties.
