YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS:Prime minister Serzh Sarkisian has conveyed his condolences to the family and close friends of a prominent Armenian director of photography, Albert Yavuryan, who died last week at 72. He was director of photography of over 20 feature films and collaborated with Sergey Parajanov for his Ashik Kerib. Sarkisian ordered to set up a commission, headed by culture minister Hasmik Poghosian, to organize his funeral. Sarkisian’s message described Albert Saurian as ‘one of the greatest directors of photography of the 20-th century, who made a revolution in the Soviet film-making by breaking theatrical stereotypes in film-making and separate it from a theater art.” The government’s press office said Serzh Sarkisian has also condoled the death of a prominent academician Rafel Ghazarian, a public figure who was in the Karabakh Committee in late 1980- that spearheaded the movement for its separation from Azerbaijan. Sarkisian’s message pays tribute to Ghazarian for his contribution to emergence and development of an independent Armenian state. He also praised him as an active citizen and a gifted scientist.
