GEORGIA’S FIRST LADY WELCOMED BY ARMENIAN HEALTH OFFICIALS

YEREVAN, JANUARY 17, ARMENPRESS:Georgia’s First Lady Sandra Roelofs, who arrived yesterday in Yerevan on a three-day visit, was welcomed today by Armenia’s health ministry and was eager to learn about efforts to fight tuberculosis. Hayk Gevorkian, head of foreign relations department of the ministry, said Mrs. Roelofs is coordinator of Georgia’s national action against TB. He said she was also interested in how Armenian doctors fight against cancer. Mrs. Roelofs was also welcomed by Armenia’s First Lady, Mrs. Bella Kocharian. President Kocharian’s press office said the two ladies discussed a variety of health, charity and culture-related issues. Georgia’s First Lady is to be received also by culture minister Hasmik Poghosian and Georgia’s embassy in Yerevan will hold reception in her honor.
