ARMENIAN FM SAYS PASSING YEAR WAS EXCLUSIVE FROM POINT OF VIEW OF PUBLICIZING ISSUE OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS:Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian told today at a press conference that the passing year was exclusive and unprecedented in respect of publicizing the issue on the Armenian genocide. Oskanian said that the acknowledgment of the Armenian genocide by new countries was also very essential. During this year the lower house of French parliament approved bill on making it a crime to deny Armenian genocide, such like bill is in process in Belgium, Netherlands. Besides this year Argentinean Senate recognized the Armenian Genocide. Overall 19 states and about 40 U.S. states have recognized and condemned the Armenian genocide. According to Oskanian, in 2007 the issue on the international recognition of the Armenian agenda will remain a priority in the Armenia’s foreign policy.
