YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, ARMENPRESS:Mikhail Baghdasarov, a wealthy businessman, who owns 30 percent of shares in HayNerart bank (formerly the Armenian Savings Bank) said today he was negotiating with Russian Vneshtorgbank the sale of his shares. Baghdasarov said the Russian bank that already owns 70 percent of shares in HayNerart has the preferential right to obtain the rest of shares. He said shares would be sold to another bidder in case no agreement was reached with the Russians in the next 18 days. Presently an international auditing firm is working to evaluate the price of the 30 percent of shares. Baghdasarov said if the Russian bank refuses to buy the shares there are two bidders ready to do so, one of which is the Armenian SIL Group. Baghdasarov complained of the poor performance of the Armenian bank pointing out the growing discontent of its clients. “I cannot have any impact on the bank’s activity and have no role in decision-making and therefore I do not want my name to be associated with it ,” he said.
