EGOYAN’S ARARAT TO BE SCREENED IN GERMANY

BERLIN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS: Outstanding Canadian-Armenian film director Atom Egoyan’s Ararat , describing the massacre of Armenian people in the Ottoman Empire in 1915, to be screened in Germany, where the growing Armenian community is neighboring a several-million Turkish one. A local German company has bought the right to show the movie in the aftermath of the International Movie Festival in Berlin, where Ararat was shown. Head of the festival jury was Atom Egoyan. –0-/40/ MAJORITY OF RETURNEES TO STAY IN ARMENIA YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS:Statistic Service data said that 2 of each coming and about 95 percent of the leaving travelers were citizens of Armenia in the last year’s external traveler turnover. Some19 percent of the permanent returnees intended to leave, some 47 percent wanted to stay and about 33 percent did not exclude the possibility of leaving. The data also said that 3 of 4 coming and going passengers were adults, every 1 of 5 was juvenile and only every 20-th was 65 and over. Quoting the same source, some 12 percent of the gross volume of the traveler turnover comprised the job-seekers, in fact some 59 percent of the comers and 38 percent of the leavers were engaged in construction work. Around 89 percent had temporary registrations in the host countries.
