KAPAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS:During yesterday’s outgoing session to Syunik the Armenian Government approved the draft of establishment of “Tatev” tourism center. The Armenian Economy Minister Nerses Yeritsyan noted that it involves the reconstruction of Tatev monastic complex, restoration of “Tatev” monastic school and “Great Desert” convent as well as construction of the cable way on the Vorotan canyon. This project is coordinated by the National Competitiveness Council for which the main investments means will be provided by philanthropist Rouben Vardanian. According to the Minister, the project has several main divisions. It reflects eight primary issues and intends solution of a number of target aims. According to N. Yeritsian, as a result of the implementation of the project a rapid development of tourism visits to the “Tatev” tourism center is intended, the community budgets will increase, new and qualitative job places will be created and on the whole a proportional territorial development will be ensured in Syunik. Here infrastructures contributing to the development of tourism will also be established, qualified internet and information technologies ensured and previously functioning educational complexes particularly the Tatev University restored. In this circumstance providing of availability of transportation is also strictly important. N. Yeritsyan informed that the cable way which will connect the Halidzor and Tatev villages across the Vorotan canyon will be one of the longest ones not only in Europe but also in the whole world. The project of making Tatev a tourism center also involves restoration of the Goris airport towards which steps are undertaken and studies implemented.
