India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has welcomed the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani APA news agency quoted Jaishankar as saying at a press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov that India is closely following developments in the South Caucasus.

“India welcomes the initialing of the peace agreement by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan last August. We hope this will lead to the establishment of lasting peace. India’s position is very clear: disputes must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy,” Jaishankar said.
