Armenian officials share experience in monitoring migration flows in St Petersburg

Armenian representatives attended a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Migration Authorities of CIS Member States in St Petersburg, presenting the migration situation in Armenia and recent changes in the sector, according to the Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The meeting was attended by the service’s Deputy Head Irina Davtyan and Vache Hovsepyan, Head of the Criminological Analysis and Law Enforcement Cooperation Department of the Criminal Police Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Irina Davtyan presented recent changes to national legislation and law enforcement practices in the field of migration. Discussing Armenia’s experience in monitoring migration flows, she spoke about the use of modern information technologies, including biometric and video surveillance systems, as well as measures to prevent illegal migration.

Representatives of the participating states discussed opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of experience in the field of migration. The relevant Council decisions were signed.
