A delegation led by Police Chief and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kamo Tsutsulyan attended a regular meeting of the Council of Interior Ministers of CIS Member States in Dushanbe on 1 October, according to Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Tsutsulyan conveyed greetings from Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan to the participants and outlined the ongoing reforms within the ministry, particularly the police, and the challenges in combating crime. He focused particularly on efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking and cybercrime.
The police chief stressed the importance of exchanging operational and analytical information and holding regular meetings between the heads of various police units in CIS member states to improve the effectiveness of cooperation.
The agenda included combating illegal migration, transnational crime and cybercrime, interstate searches for individuals, and countering the use of information technology for illicit drug trafficking. The meeting also discussed the electronic exchange of information on vehicle registration and deregistration and the issuing of driving licences.
Before the Council meeting, the heads of delegations were received by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
Decisions were adopted on the agenda items. The Council’s next meeting is scheduled to take place in Uzbekistan in 2027.
