Estonia has banned the transit of Russian and Belarusian grain through its territory, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said in a post on X.
“Russia attacks Ukrainian ports, blocks grain exports from Ukraine and then seeks new routes for its own grain. Estonia will not provide such a route,” Tsahkna wrote.
He recalled that he had warned in early September about plans to transport Russian grain through Estonia.
“And today we have given this the force of law,” Tsahkna wrote.
Estonia’s foreign minister added that they were working with Lithuania and Latvia to ensure that Baltic ports were not used as transit routes for Russia.
“Russia cannot wage a war of aggression and expect us to help it maintain trade flows. We will not help finance its war or facilitate its continued aggression,” Estonia’s foreign minister said.
