Armenia suffer home defeat to Montenegro

The Armenian national football team hosted Montenegro in the second round of the UEFA Nations League qualifying stage.

At the start of the match at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium, both teams missed several good opportunities to open the scoring.

In the 20th minute, during one of Montenegro’s attacks, Erik Piloyan failed to deal with the situation in the penalty area and sent the ball into his own net.

In the 34th minute, during one of Armenia’s quick counter-attacks, Artur Serobyan found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and put the ball into the net. It was his milestone 30th appearance for the Armenian national team.

However, less than four minutes later, Montenegro regained the lead. Nikola Krstović scored with a long-range strike.

In the second half, in the 65th minute, Armenia captain Eduard Spertsyan restored parity with a powerful long-range strike.

Towards the end of the match, in the 88th minute, Montenegro secured victory thanks to a goal from Latković.

Armenia 2-3 Montenegro.

Armenia will play their third Nations League match on October 2, facing Cyprus away from home.
