Armenian government allocates over $3 million for subsidy programs

The Armenian government allocated 1.11 billion drams (about $3.06 million) on Thursday for the implementation of subsidy programs in seven regions of the country.

“We propose to co-finance a total of 25 projects in 19 communities across the country, three of them in Aragatsotn Province, two in Ararat, nine in Armavir, two in Gegharkunik, three in Lori, three in Shirak, and three in Tavush,” Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan said at the Cabinet meeting.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the subsidy programs will finance the reconstruction of kindergartens, address drinking water and gas supply issues in a number of communities, and pave dozens of kilometers of roads.

He added that the investments also stimulate private investment, particularly in tourism.

“In those villages where there have been no roads for decades, when information already spreads in this format that the government has announced a tender and the tender has a winner, the construction of guesthouses and the implementation of other private projects already begin here,” the Prime Minister said.

Pashinyan emphasized that this is a format of remote cooperation between the private sector and the state, which is quite effective.
