Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met Wednesday evening with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a readout that following an official welcoming ceremony at the Élysée Palace, President Macron thanked Pashinyan for accepting the invitation to participate in the inaugural International Space Summit in Paris.
“The President of France stressed the importance of the continued development of bilateral relations in all directions, in line with the bilateral declaration on strategic cooperation,” according to the readout.
Prime Minister Pashinyan thanked President Macron for the invitation and warm hospitality, emphasizing the importance of deepening cooperation with France in the space sector. Pashinyan stressed that Armenia is interested in a more substantive partnership in this direction.
The leaders emphasized that economic cooperation between the two countries is one of the priority areas of the strategic partnership. In this context, the sides highlighted the consistent implementation of steps by the Government of Armenia aimed at diversification in the economic sector.
The sides were pleased to note that the construction work on the Bargushat Tunnel has entered a substantive phase.
In this regard, the importance of launching the construction work as soon as possible was emphasized. France is involved in the construction of the tunnel as part of the North–South highway project in Armenia.
Regional processes were also addressed. The importance of consistently implementing steps aimed at strengthening peace was emphasized.
Subsequently, on behalf of French President Emmanuel Macron, an official dinner was held in honor of the heads of state and government of the countries participating in the International Space Summit.
The International Space Summit, held in Paris on 9 and 10 September 2026, is an opportunity to open a dialogue for all to meet the challenges for the space sector, according to organizers.
The event will bring together numerous participants, including heads of state and government from around the world, representatives of international and regional organizations, members of parliament, scientists, the military, astronauts and decision-makers from the private sector, civil society, local communities and development banks.
